World Wide Radio Group

Omaha, Ne. Area

Welcome to WWRG in Omaha Nebraska. WWRG is a member supported repeater group that is also linked to the Internet Radio Linking Project on 443.725+. The repeater is open to all hams and with a control operator you can connect up to the IRLP and make contacts to other States and Countries.    All dues paid members are control operators and can connect and disconnect the repeater to a Node (for one on one contacts) or a Reflector (for many contacts, like a chat group). The IRLP network is growing very fast, on July 8th 2001 when I put up the node there was only 132 nodes in all. The network has grown  to almost 500 nodes world-wide. Check out the status page for current node numbers and locations.

The main repeater is a YAESU VXR-5000 25 watt UHF repeater, running 10 watts out of the duplexer through a Decibel Products 4 pole exposed dipole antenna. The controller is a Link Communications RLC-4 with 4 ports for add-ons. We are currently only using ports one and two. Link port 2 is for the IRLP, and when audio is coming from the IRLP you will only hear a boop. When audio is on the local repeater you will hear the normal courtesy tone of  bee-bop. The computer is a old Pentium 133 running Linux red hat software for the IRLP, hooked up to broadband for outstanding audio quality.

There is a slight delay while talking on the IRLP and you should leave about one second off PTT before speaking and pause between transmissions (especially if on a reflector).

Anyone controlling must identify before pushing any buttons. The only exception to this rule is when disconnecting from a reflector and you may identify after the disconnect. The IRLP card is modified for full duplex operation (you can disconnect from nodes or reflectors while someone is talking on the IRLP) You do not have to wait for a pause from the IRLP with this option. Also we have call waiting enabled and if listening to a node or reflector and another node tries to connect to us we will hear a message saying (your node is receiving a call from node number 350), for example. Then if you wish you can disconnect from the current node and connect up to whoever tried to connect to us.

Current control operators are: KF6SWL, KF6QBW, KF6WZU, NØUQZ and NØYUE.

TO TRY THE IRLP JUST LISTEN FOR ACTIVITY, IF THE REPEATER IS NOT IN USE JUST MAKE A CALL FOR A CURRENT CONTROL OPERATOR / MEMBER AND ASK THEM TO GIVE YOU A DEMONSTRATION AND CONNECT YOU TO A LOCATION YOU HAVE CHOSEN FROM THE NODE LIST.
DUES ARE $60.00 PER YEAR AND SHOULD BE SEND TO WORLD WIDE RADIO GROUP, 6921 CHARLES, OMAHA, NE. 68132    CLICK HERE FOR PRINTABLE MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION.
