He was born Nov. 13, 1930, in Meridian, Miss., to Horace A. and Eunice (Chrisman) McMillan Jr. He moved to Council Bluffs in 1960. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1954. For the past 25 years he has been the owner of Hobby Industry Manuals. Prior to that he was sales manager for World Radio Laboratory for 25 years. He was a licensed private pilot. He was a longtime member of Optimist Club of Council Bluffs, and a member of Ak-Sar-Ben Amateur Radio Club for over 50 years. Other memberships included Amateur Radio Club of Southwest Iowa, Quarter Century Wireless Association, American Radio Relay League and Omaha Astronomical Society. He was also a volunteer examiner for Amateur Radio License Examination and a community educator for Amateur Radio. Mr. McMillan and his wife, Dona M. (Lara), were married June 23, 1958. Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Deborah Grund, Roberta Jay and Marie McMillan, all of Council Bluffs; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Cutler Chapel. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Rainbow Post No. 2. |
