THE FOLLOWING IS A TIME CONSUMING PROCESS. INSPECT YOUR BATTERIES AND THE CONNECTORS PRIOR TO USE. VERY FEW DEALERS TAKE THE TIME TO PROPERLY DO THIS AT DELIVERY TIME! |

| HOW OFTEN MUST THIS MAINTENANCE BE DONE? EVERY 30 DAYS IS MY RECOMMENDATION. | ||||||||||||||||||||
YES! THE BEST METHOD IS TO PREPARE THE SURFACES, APPLY A PRODUCT CALLED R5, FROM THE CAIG COMPANY TO THE BATTERY CONNECTOR SURFACE, THE TERMINAL BOLT AND BOTH SURFACES OF THE WIRE TERMINALS PRIOR TO ASSEMBLY. LET STAND ABOUT 5 MINUTES, THEN APPLY A GENEROUS AMOUNT OF LubriMatic ELECTRICAL CONTACT GREASE TO ALL THE CONTACT POINTS. START ASSEMBLING THE WIRES TO THE BATTERY AND TIGHTEN THE TERMINAL NUT SECURELY. FINGER TIGHT IS NOT TIGHT ENOUGH. USE A PLIERS AND SNUG THEM UP GOOD AND TIGHT. |

BELOW AFTER 2 YEARS OF USE AND NO ADDITIONAL BATTERY POST CLEANING. IT IS 7/26/2002 AND THE BATTERY POST SHOW NO CONTAMINATION AND DO NOT NEED TO BE CLEANED. THE SAME WAS TRUE FOR THE FUSE HOLDERS AND THE EXPOSED WIRING CONNECTORS. the grease was full of dirt, but the quality of the ELECTRICAL CONTACT grease held up. |

| 4/26/03 UPDATE I VISIT ANOTHER TEST BOAT WHERE I APPLIED THE DIELECTRIC GREASE FOR A TEST OF IT BEING USED. IT IS NOW 3 YEARS LATTER AND THE BATTERIES HAVE BEEN ON THE BACK OF THE PONTOON OUT IN THE OPEN WEATHER AND THE BATTERY CONTACTS AND WIRING CONNECTORS HAVE NEVER BEEN CLEANED SINCE INSTALLED, BATTERIES WERE REMOVED EACH YEAR FOR WINTER STORAGE, BUT NO ADDITIONAL DIELECTRIC GREASE APPLIED THE 2 FOLLOWING YEARS. BATTERY CONTACTS AND WIRING CONNECTORS REMAIN UNCONTAMINATED. | ||||||||||||||||||||

2 YEARS AGO I PUT THE ELECTRICAL CONTACT GREASE ON JUST 1 0F THE 2 BATTERIES IN A 24 VOLT SYSTEM. THIS IS THE CONNECTORS OF THE SIDE OF THE BATTERY I PUT THE ELECTRICAL CONTACT GREASE ON. STILL NOT OXIDIZED. |

| THE BATTERY WITH NO ELECTRICAL CONTACT GREASE HAD DEAD CELLS. THE GREASE MAY EXTEND THE LIFE OF THE BATTERIES ALSO. THE OTHER BATTERY WAS STILL HOLDING IT'S OWN AT 12.52 VOLTS. | ||||||||||||||||||||
