Good morning,
I saw your website at the following address:

http://k0swi.microlnk.com/REVIEW/CAMERAS/ACCESSORIES/0_CAMERA%20ACCESSORIES%20REVIEW%20MAIN%20MENU.htm

This leads me to believe you could be the guy to answer some questions for me since I've found very little helpful information on the Web.  I have a Minolta Dimage Z2 camera and have the Minolta wide angle (.75x) lens for it (ZCW-100).  I like the effect, but am dissapointed by the distortion or fish-eye effect it produces.

I am in the market for a wider lens (perhaps .5x or .6x), but with some perspective correction to eliminate or reduce the fish-eye effect.  I've looked into the Raynox line of lenses, but cannot be certain if they'll perform as desired.  It seems none of the manufacturers are interested in describing the performance characteristics of their lenses.

Also, the camera has an existing 10x optical zoom, which is pretty generous.  But like all things I'm looking for the option of more.  Many telephoto conversion lenses are not designed to work with greater than about 6x optical zoom built into the camera.  Do you know of any lenses (including Raynox) that are designed for such a situation?

Lastly, as a general question, what do you think about the quality and performance of the Raynox line of lenses as compared to Tiffen?  Thanks for any assistance you can provide.  I greatly appreciate it.

-Clint Brackman

ANSWER:
WHEN USING THE WIDE ANGLE YOU MUST ADJUST THE INTERNAL ZOOM FOR THE EFFECT THAT YOU WANT.
I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH WITH RAYNOX! THEY SOMETIME NEVER ANSWER YOU.
WHEN YOU GO BEYOND 6X USE A TRIPOD. ALSO FOR EVERY 1X INCREASE YOU LOOSE ABOUT 1 F STOP. SO YOU LOOSE SHARPNESS. TO CORRECT THIS YOU NEED TO MAKE A MANUAL F STOP ADAPTOR. i have used the tiffen 2 x with 8 x optical with great success this way. i WILL TRY TO DO A WEBPAGE ON THIS AS TIME PERMITS.  OF ALL THE LENS COMPANIES I HAVE FOUND TIFFEN TO BE THE BEST ON ANSWERING QUESTION PROMPTLY AND HAVING LOTS OF INFORMATION ON THEIR WEB SITE.
