Hello Jim, I will only take a moment of your time. I am on the edge of popping for an Olympus C-750. I have had three Olympus cameras and not one of them has ever let me down. (I am still using my beloved OM-1 that I bought in 1975!) However, I just came across the Panasonic DMC-FZ10. Hmmmm. I like the 12X zoom and I REALLY like the idea of the image stabilizer. Would you care to give me some advice on how I choose between them? Thanks John Washbush Milwaukee, WI

ANSWER: the image stabilizer SHOULD BE GREAT, THE ADDITIONAL ZOOM WILL COME IN HANDY AND I STILL DO NOT HAVE THE DETAILS ON THE MANUAL FOCUS?. THE OLYMPUS PICTURES I HAVE COMPARED TO OTHER CAMERAS, IT SEEMS ARE ARE NOT AS GOOD AT DISTANCES SHORTER THAN 7 FEET, MACRO IS VERY POOR. BUY THE Panasonic DMC-FZ10. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU PURCHASE. JIM

No camera is perfect, and that includes the FZ10. Luckily most of my issues with it are fairly minor. For one, it didn't really offer standout performance, except for its great burst mode. I don't like how the memory card slot is inaccessible while the camera is on a tripod. And while there is an easy workaround, I'd prefer to activate macro mode via a button, rather than a spot on the mode dial. There were a few image quality issues, but none of them bothered me: some redeye, purple fringing, and "jaggies" were all apparent. And finally, I found the electronic viewfinder to be nearly useless while shooting in dim light (where the camera didn't focus terribly well anyway).
