Frequency Coverage:
VHF:
Tx: 144-148 MHz Rx: 118-174 MHz (guaranteed 144 - 148 MHz only)UHF:
Tx: 430-450 MHz (guaranteed 440 - 450 MHz only) Rx: 400-470 MHz (guaranteed 440 - 450 MHz only)Mode: FM, AM (118 - 136 MHz; Rx only) I PUT THE AIR BAND IN A SCAN EDGE, IT WAS GREAT 10
Power supply: 4.5 to 16 V DC, or specified battery pack VOLTAGE IS DISPLAYED ON POWER ON 10
Tuning steps (kHz): 5, 10, 12.5, 15, 20, 25, 30, 50 VERY IMPORTANT ESPECIALLY FOR SATELLITE WORK 10
Usable Temperature Range: -10°C to +60°C; +14°F to +140°F RADIO GOT VERY HOT ON 12 VOLT 8
Antenna connector: BNC (50) THE SUPPLIED ANTENNA WAS A DUAL BAND DUCK, I CHARGED THE BATTERY OVER NIGHT. THE NEXT DAY I PUSHED THE VFO AND HIT 146535 AND THE FIRST STATION I HEARD WAS KB0QKH AT THE BASE AT 8 TH. AND FOREST DRIVE, 11 MILES AWAY. I WAS ON BATTERY POWER SO I KNEW I NEEDED HIGH POWER. ONE KEY PUSH PUT ME ON HIGH POWER AND AFTER JOHN SIGNED OFF I MADE A CALL FOR HIM AND I ASKED FOR A REPORT. JOHN RESPONDED WITH 4 S UNITS AND GREAT MODULATION AND FULL QUITTING. BEFORE I COULD RESPOND TO JOHN, JOE, KC0FDC RESPONDED AND GAVE ME A GOOD REPORT FROM MILLARD AREA 7 MILES AWAY, HE WAS IN HIS 18 WHEELER. I SIGNED OFF AND LOADED A FEW LOCAL AREA REPEATER FREQUENCIES, AND THE 145.13 MO. VALLEY, IA. AND THE 145.29 GLENWOOD, IA. I SCANNED THE MEMORY CHANNELS FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS WHILE I DID SOME COMPUTER WORK. I WAS SO HAPPY WITH THE INTERMOD REJECTION I WOULD RATE IT AS A 8 ON THE RUBBER DUCK. I HEARD THE 145.13 AND THE 145.29 ON THE DUCK AND WAS ABLE TO GET BACK TO THEM ON JUST THE BATTERY POWER. I NEVER HEARD THE 146.76, SO, I LATER PUT A BNC ADAPTOR TO CONVERT THE COAX CABLE RUNNING TO MY OUTDOOR ANTENNA. IT NOW EVEN PICKED UP THE 146.76 THAT WAS ABOUT 65 MILES AWAY. OCCASIONALLY A LITTLE INTERMOD WOULD SNEAK IN BUT IT WAS VERY GOOD I WOULD RATE THE INTERMOD ON THE OUTDOOR ANTENNA AS A 8. I HAD TO HOOK UP TO 12 VOLT POWER SUPPLY AND ON HIGH POWER MADE CONTACTS ON THE 146.76 AND ALL REPORTS WERE VERY GOOD.
Current Drain (at VHF/UHF, typical):
Tx (13.5 V DC) at 6.0 W : 1.6 A, Tx (13.5 V DC) at 0.5 W: 0.6 A/0.7 A, Rx (9.6 V DC) rated audio : 180 mA/190 mA, Rx (9.6 V DC) power saved : 180 mA/190 mADimensions (with BP-173/180): 57(W) x 122(H) x 29(D) mm, 2.25(W) x 4.81(H) x 1.125(D) in
Weight (with BP-173): 405 g; 14.3 oz., Weight (with BP-180): 320 g; 11.3 oz.
Output power (13.5 V): 6.0 W. typ (high), 0.5 W typ. (low) LOW POWER EXTENDED THE BATTERY AIR TIME.
Modulation system: Variable reactance ALL COMMENTS RECEIVED WERE ALL VERY GOOD 10
Maximum frequency deviation: ±5 kHz
Spurious emissions: Less than -60 dB
Ext. Mic connector: 3-conductor 2.5 (d) mm (1/10")/2
Receive system: Double conversion superheterodyne
Intermediate frequencies: 1st: 45.15 MHz; 2nd: 450 kHz
Sensitivity: 0.18 µV (at12 dB SINAD)
SQL sensitivity: Less than 0.18 µV SQUELCH HAS 4 SETTINGS, AUTO WORKED GREAT. PUSH THE SQUELCH TWICE AND IT WOULD LOCK OPEN. RATTING 10
Selectivity: More than 15 kHz/-9 dB, less than 30 kHz/-50 dB
Spurious and image rejection ratio: More than 60 dB (VHF), more than 50 dB (UHF and 2nd image) SLIGHTLY MORE INTERMOD WAS EXPERIENCED ON UHF SO MY RATING ON UHF IS 7
Audio output power (at 13.5 V DC): 500 mW typ. at10% distortion with an 8 load) RATING 4
Ext. SP connector: 3-conductor 3.5 (d) mm (1/8")/8 EXCELLENT WITH EXTERNAL SPEAKER, OR SPEAKER MIKE. WITH EXTERNAL SPEAKER IT WAS GREAT IN THE MOBILE 10
