| PROGRAMMING
MEMORY BANKS BY JIM , NØUQZ
Each bank can hold up to 99
channels. Therefore, you have to plan ahead as to how you would like to
organize the frequencies you will program into the radio. How you lay
this out will depend on your needs. Once I haVE DECIDED all the
channels TO BE programmed, I then set about assigning them to certain
banks. Remembering that each channel can only be assigned to ONE bank I
found myself programming some frequencies into more than one memory
channel so I could put them into more than one bank. MY RECOMMENDATION IS TO FIRST PROGRAM IN 2 METERS IN A BAND AND THEN 70 CM, FOLLOWED BY 6 METERS. MY LOGICAL WAY OF PROGRAMMING IS FOR EASY RECALL OF THE MEMORY CHANNEL IS TO PUT 146.82 IN MEMORY 82, 145.115 IN MEMORY 11 147.39 IN MEMORY 39 AND SO ON. Just of the topic. Is any one noticed that Radio Shack released
the
new Dual band HT called HTX-420, with 100 memory channel. The price tag is US $270. I think price is too high comparing to the newly release of ICOM IC- T90A tribander, with full 5 watt out put on all 3 bands, 0.495-999.990MHz wide band receiver, long life Li-Ion battery pack, Total 555 memory channels, 14 varieties of high speed scan, 104 DTCS and 50 CTCSS code and 2 VFO (A/B) for split frequency operation. With lot of scanning option for IC-T90A as follows. Full VFO scan Program scan Band scan Full memory scan Memory bank scan (DMS) Priority scan CTCSS decode scan Full VFO skip scan Program skip scan Band skip scan Full memory skip scan Memory bank skip scan TV channel search DTCS decode scan I was checking the tech. spec. of HTX-420, and found the output power is not 5 watt but 3 watt with 7.2v and 4 watt with 13.8v.
